Welcome to the website for Toon, a small team-based wargames modification for Valve Software's Source engine. At the moment, the game is still in early development stages and will not be available to download for some time. However, within the next few weeks there will be a new website and development blog with media and much more detailed information about Toon, as well as forums if the demand for them exists. Stay Tooned!

The Premise
Toon takes place in a fictional science-fiction wargames setting. Two teams (or "toons") of no more than six players each battle each other in a variety of levels, each identical in setting but different in layout. Each player is outfitted with a freeze gun and grappling hook and wears a special suit that allows them to move faster and jump higher than usual. The objective is to freeze the entire opposing toon before they do, but it's not quite that simple. Each toon has a Commander, who has the ability to orient gravity to any of the six degrees of freedom, radically altering the flow of the match.

Gameplay Details
Each Toon match is seperated into two phases. The first is the Placement phase, which is only a few minutes long. During this phase, the map is divided in half (each map is symmetrical so that they are perfectly balanced) and both toons place a number of large cubic obstacles anywhere on their side of the map. They are frozen in place when the time limit expires and the phase ends. The Combat phase follows, and each team battles to freeze the opposition and win the match. Up to 12 players can play in a game. Each team has one player designated as the Commander, who has several special abilities; he can change gravity, unfreeze teammates, destroy a single enemy obstacle, and has limited immunity to enemy fire (he is more difficult to kill than a normal player). Each player is outfitted with a Light Gun which freezes enemy players and a grappling hook. If a player is shot, they freeze and fall to the ground, and are subject to the laws of physics - so a frozen player can fall into the midst of the enemy if the gravity changes!
